Is It Normal to Have Nicotine Withdrawal Syndrome?
Smoking is one of the most addictive habits in the world today. It has its origin from Native Americans who grew the tobacco plant which contains the substance called NICOTINE and prepared it for smoking. Eventually, cigarette was invented during the 18th century and became the fashion of upper class men until up to the present; industries are investing for mass production of cigarettes. Cigarettes as we all know have nicotine as a major ingredient made it dangerous for the health. That is of course why everyone should stop cigarette smoking.
Before, nicotine is a helpful chemical used as insecticide, however, as its popularity increases in the commercial cigarettes, it was found to be a stimulant substance which has higher effect than cocaine and heroine. Accordingly, the effects of nicotine are addictive as it unleashes the mood from being bored and sleepy to being active and awake. But due to the increasing population who smoke, a lot of chronic diseases are also reported to have a direct result from smoking. For that reason, the medical profession is making its way to be aggressive in the campaign of Quitting Smoking.
However, quitting a habit such as smoking has always been a problem due to some side effects which are inevitable. And for this case, people who make a decision to quit smoking have evident manifestations of irritability, intense headaches, restlessness, depression, anxiety, poor concentration, crave for tobacco, panting and perspiration, tension, insomnia, dizziness, irregular sleeping patterns, lowering levels of physical activity, constant fatigue and drowsiness, increased appetite, and impaired performance level.
These are symptoms of Nicotine Withdrawal Syndrome. It is a normal side effect of quitting smoke because the nicotine is being withdrawn from the body; its usual effects as well are hampered. It takes 24 hours before all of the nicotine to be withdrawn from the body just by stopping the intakes of it in a day. Thus, if one is serious in quitting the bad habit of smoking, he must know that nicotine withdrawal syndrome is normal and part of it.
